I provide an accelerated intervention for first grade students who are working below grade level in reading and writing. Students work one-on-one with me for daily 30-minute sessions for 12 to 20 weeks. My goal for students is for them to work successfully and independently in the middle to upper-middle classroom reading group.

Please plan to set aside 10 minutes each evening for your child to read to you. They will be bringing home familiar books that they have already read with me several times. Your job is not to teach, but to encourage and to be a cheerleader. Remind your child to look at the picture and to think about what is happening there before they read. Tell your child what a good job they are doing and how important it is to learn to read. Thank you for all of your help!  HomeworkREAD! READ! READ! The best way to learn to read is to practice. Read your books each evening and return them every day so that we can use them for our lessons. Don't forget to have a parent sign that they listened!
